How do I coach?
While common themes emerge during coaching, every individual faces a unique set of challenges and deserves a bespoke approach.
I’m an integrative practitioner, meaning I draw from a range of different modalities along with my psychological training and my own experience. While I flex my approach according to the person in front of me, there are some qualities you can expect from me.
As a coach, I…
Listen without judgement
Challenge with compassion
Make candid conversations feel comfortable
Combine psychological theory with practical resources
Empower clients to develop workable action plans and achieve goals
Believe in solving the problem beneath the problem
The practicalities
Coaching tends to be bought in blocks of three, six or nine sessions, although it is possible to arrange a one-off session if required.
A session includes preparation time, 60 minutes of one-to-one interaction, and follow-up as needed - from sharing relevant resources to accountability check ins to keep clients on track.
Sessions will be scheduled at agreed intervals, with enough time to apply techniques, implement new processes and reflect on learnings between them.
Sessions are usually conducted via Zoom. However, in person sessions can be held in person in Brighton, London or the surrounding areas.
Preparing for coaching
When it comes to coaching, you will get out what you put in
Find focus:
Come to each session having thought about how you’d like to use it
Strong connection:
Ensure you have a strong internet connection so our conversation can flow
Quiet space:
Join from a quiet, private space where you won’t be interrupted
Pen and paper:
Bring a pen and paper to jot down any insights
Honesty policy:
Be open and honest - remember, everything you say is confidential
Time to think:
Build in time to gather your thoughts before and after each session – avoid rushing from one meeting to the next
What my clients say…
"Amelia struck an excellent balance of insight, support, and positive and careful challenge; mixing practical guidance, humour and a deep psychological awareness. With her help, I went on a journey and successfully made the changes I needed."
Strategy Lead, Regulator
"Amelia challenged my preconceptions and helped me reflect on, recognise and appreciate what’s really important to me. Her coaching programme taught me lessons I will never forget. I cannot recommend her highly enough!”
Teacher, Fluentify
"Amelia's coaching has led to a significant improvement in my leadership style and my team’s output and dynamic. She brought a good blend of questioning and challenging, as well as offering models, theories or suggestions to help me where appropriate. Amelia’s supportive, no-nonsense approach helped me to break down problems and come up with solutions in a way I wouldn't have been able to on my own, whilst also holding me accountable week-on-week. By far some of the best personal and professional development training I’ve received."
